I had vanguard form a previous employer and now have Schwab for stock trading From what I am seeing Vanguard UI seems to be pretty bad (I did not realize that until I had Schwab , even Fidelity seems to be better compared to vanguard ) My major complaint is in vanguard I cannot see a comprehensive view , that shows daily performance and performance since purchase I have to go to various pages to see them all and it’s still not easy to follow Is there something I could be missing ? Also , guessing the answer for this is no but asking anyways … you cannot move stock from one brokerage to another or can you. Trying to consolidate, specially when it comes to tax harvesting . Thanks - 200#investments #personalfinance #personalfinance #investments
I've never used vanguard, but if Fidelity makes it look good it must be pretty horrid. To answer your question, yes, you can move assets between brokerages. What those assets are will determine how you move them. If these are stocks, you can do a Transfer of Assets (ToA) between brokerages to move them without selling and incurring taxes. If this is a 401k you'll need to do a roll over, similar for an IRA too I think.
I’m biased for Fidelity. Though sorry about the UI issues, very Conways law here. Some experiences are fantastic, others ancient. A lot of design focus on bringing in new customers over from the 401k space or net-new.
And I thought Schwab was absolute garbage. I find fidelity a lot more intuitive to use
Schwab is my favorite and I’ve used most of them including Fidelity/Vanguard. And yes you can move securities between brokerages.

The brokerage should move your stocks as well.
