joined a FAANG and as part of offer got rental from company for some initial days. After almost 2 weeks, I accidently scratched one side while parking. I did not personally purchase insurance from rental company and I think my employer has some kind of insurance in place, does anyone know if I will have to pay the full amount out of pocket for damage to rental car :( PS: I relocated from another country and do not have my own insurance as of now. Also, a bit low on funds
Just say some dik reversed into you in the parking lot
That happened to me when I traveled for a FAANG interview many years ago. Huge scratch down the side (not my fault). In my case the rental was completely covered by the company's contract insurance
You won't have to pay a dime. The business rental insurance will cover it.
Yes. As others pointed out, nothing to worry. Rental car is covered by corporate insurance. You can quickly confirm it with your rental car receipt if you have one
The receipt says that the only insurance is place is Business LDW (Loss Damage Waiver). When I had asked the car company for insurance policy, she said it only covers business use of car and not personal. I am not sure what my use will be classified. I got this car from employer as I settle in new region but I am using this car for commute as well as for personal reasons
I believe if you were given the car as a part of your relocation and to settle down in your new place , you should be covered for both commute and personal trips like shopping, food
I’ve crashed a company rental car before. Not to worry, nothing will come out of your own pocket but depending on who’s at fault you might still get dinged on your insurance
Hey OP , same situation here. What was the conclusion

Don't delay and call the car company, they handle business with your employer and will know all about insurance. There might be some deductible depending on the plan but overall it's really not a big deal and happens all the time. Really just chill it won't affect your work nor bankrupt you :)
