I have an amazing and original movie script story that I’ll like to sell to Netflix or any streaming service. I’m 90% confident that once produced this will drive paid membership up by 7% globally. I’ve done my research on the genre. Do we have Content acquisition Product Managers on here? #tech
What are you smokin bruh?
I stopped reading when you said it could drive the membership by 7% globally. Don’t ever say that again. Just be happy if someone was willing to pay you even 20k for it.
What’s your pitch
Why don’t you convert it to a novel and try to publish it. Worst case, you can publish self publish it. If the novel is hit then it will be easy to sell for movie/tv series later.
This is one of the most logical and intelligent replies on this post. But no one wants to do that work. They just want to have their script on screens tomorrow lmao
No screenplay can be bigger or more magnanimous than the Indian legends ‘Ramayana’ and ‘Mahabharata’ that are supposed to have happened thousands of years ago. They are the “Game of Thrones” OGs. The stories need to be told in an appropriate way tailored for a global audience and it can be a big big hit. For the people not familiar with these series, a quick chat with your Indian friend might help :) These stories literally have everything that is needed for commercial success in these age and times. So OP, I back you up if your screenplay is to the level of Ramayana or Mahabharata. For everything else, good luck :)
Do you even know what "magnanimous" means? Have you read mythology from all parts of the world? Yes, they are great stories but why be a blind bhakt? And no, they didn't happen at any point of time. These are just stories
Oh I don’t know what “magnanimous” means. Care to explain? 😊
"Content acquisition product manager" 😂🤣😂
Never going to happen the way you think. The ONLY way Netflix (and I’m sure others as well) will even think about looking at a script is if you have representation. That is you have a lawyer in the business or a talent agency representing you. That’s it. That’s the only source they’ll take submissions from. They won’t even take submissions internally unless you’re represented. There’s so many gotchas in the business that they don’t want to deal with someone who isn’t intimately familiar with how things work. That’s what representation does for you. A quick search would have turned this up. If you can’t be bothered with such a thing I don’t hold out much hope for you getting your script looked at. https://help.netflix.com/en/node/100386
By 7%, LoL. Are you going to refund the money if it doesn't do that?
Not at all how that works. And companies you cited prohibit spec scripts from most non-agency entities.
How does it work? This is going to be a hit show and could actually morph into a franchise
No studio (classic or streaming house) or agency accepts spec scripts from anyone without preexisting relationships (often needs to be combined with preexisting success) and even then it’s difficult because they gets 100s of scripts every day. You need to use LinkedIn and existing connections to get an “in” at each studio (look for production managers, lit division heads, agent assistants) if you ever want your script to even be seen. Getting a script into production through conventional methods is a long shot. Then being green lit to a released and running series is even more difficult. Plenty of potentially incredible series/movies that are scrapped in/after post-production or get stuck in turnaround (Google it). Even if you manage to get your script in front of real decision makers, you’ll need financial backing (usually $1M-$30M on smaller projects) to have anything moved forward. You’ll also need to attach at least one star actor/director to your project. That is all purely the tip of the iceberg.
