Should I quit my job and do a bootcamp to try and up my TC and break into tech? I'm a veteren with 12 years of service. 100k TC, 32 yo, <1 yoe in engineering or tech, currently a systems engineer at Mitre FFRDC supporting government work. First civilian job. I'm miserable here. People are boring. The projects are not challenging or meaningful. I don't see myself gaining any meaningful skills in the future. It's mostly a comfortable place where people in late middle age come to park themselves into a decent 401k and WLB. I have ECE BS and MS. Never used it and definitely not using it here. Culture is everything to me, I can't stand this office environment where people don't talk to each other and live in this fake nice upper middle class white people world. I don't know if tech is better in this regard. I'm sure like most of you either I do something meaningful or make the most amount of money I can. I don't want anything in between. As far as family lifestyle etc... I'm pretty redpilled. Don't want wife, kids, or anything. I like being single and dating younger women. Don't need as much stability. My friends are more important than most of my family. The way I see it friends are the familiy you get to choose. Thoughts opinions? PS. I would be quitting my current job with <90 days.
Sounds exactly like Lockheed
Sounds like Northrop
Do it! Make sure to pick a reputable bootcamp but you sound like a perfect candidate for it tbh :)
There are so many free boot camps for veterans! Also get some Arduinos , rasberry Pi's and leverage your ece background to build a nice portfolio of personal projects.

Why is it so G*damn difficult to move money out of India
The reality is it will be similar shit, different company...IMO bootcamp may give u a new energy and help u understand what's current in the market....so till u don't try, u won't know...go for it...why dont u take a break instead of quitting?
Break is part of the equation. 2-3 months of travel to SEA or South America. Everyone keeps telling me not to quit until I have my next step secured but I have some savings so I'm not as concerned. Boot camp would be funded by my GI Bill also. So while I won't have a pay check it will financially neutral.
