https://apnews.com/article/social-media-seattle-lawsuits-mental-health-965a8f373e3bfed8157571912cc3b542 The public school district in Seattle has filed a novel lawsuit against the tech giants behind TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and Snapchat, seeking to hold them accountable for the mental health crisis among youth. The 91-page complaint says the social media companies have created a public nuisance by targeting their products to children. Meta, Google, Snap and TikTok are the accused parties. The lawsuit says that from 2009 to 2019, there was on average a 30% increase in the number of Seattle Public Schools students who reported feeling “so sad or hopeless almost every day for two weeks or more in a row” that they stopped doing some typical activities. Do you think Meta, Google, Snap and TikTok are the legally guilty here or it’s just a stunt using public resources?
This is a Wallstreet listed Corp, not a family business. Their only responsibility is to maximize profits without doing anything illegal. Schools are barking at the wrong tree. Elect better folks if you want this to change.
Of course the government is also responsible bc of excessive covid lockdowns. Covid primarily killed older ppl and we punished our youth bc of it.
Seattle public schools completely failed our kids during the pandemic. This is them trying to shift blame
This is a ridiculous waste of resources. Seattle Public Schools won’t even pay for enough Mental Health Counselors or school nurses for students but they can sue social media companies? This is so stupid. So dumb.
I sense they want to wire some money to lawyers. If not corruption, it doesn’t explain. This is not district’s job. It is DOJ or congress.

The end of Backdoor Roth?!
This is ridiculous. Instead of teaching kids personal responsibility and how to take control of themselves, they’re blaming it on outside parties
