This a question for Snap SWEs and HR in Seattle. I wanted to get an idea of the climate of the office. I know Snap’s metrics don’t look great on Wall Street, but I loved their office and I thought they were nice people when I interviewed there. Can somebody from the Seattle office talk about job security perspectives? Have you seen layoffs happen in this office?
Ask them about their holiday party. You can get a sense for how they are spending money.
Been here for about 2 years now. It’s a pure Eng Satellite operation, we’ve actually grown significantly in the last 2 years. Great talent too, mostly former Amazon & FB folk. Mature teams, mostly Infra related work. The teams are small and tight knit, Ive personally benefited from a great manager I’m happy with. Wall Street has been destroying us on the press, but internal mood is surprisingly overall pretty upbeat. If you have thick skin and ignore the rabble of the press and instead focus on the solid work available here, you’ll be happy. I’ve considered looking else where a few times, but been happy enough that I’ve decided to see what 2019 brings. Just my 2cents
This matches what I saw. Thanks, this is helpful!

Absurdities of the Bay Area 😒
Heard they were liquidating the office equipment and there’s a great discount on it if you need some for your office
