I have a few questions as I plan on buying a house in a couple of years. Stats: HHTC $500K, NW $1.4MM, $400K liquid (the rest in retirement accounts and rental properties). 1. Is Bellevue school district that much better than lake Washington? Is it worth the premium? 2. What areas on the east side are good for elementary school? 3. When looking at a house on Zillow for example, how do you know what school district it’s in? Do you just go by what Zillow says or is there another website to use? 4. What’s the situation for prek and kindergarten? 5. A question I have in general is about highly rigorous and competitive high schools. I understand they can help a lot with college because in some cases the high school itself is even harder than college. But one concern I have is what happens if it’s so competitive that a smart student still ends up ranking in the middle of the class, or no better than top 20%? Doesn’t that make them look bad when they apply for universities? So I would think it’s best to go to a rigorous school but one where the competition is moderate enough that the kid has a chance to rank higher in the class. 6. Is it better to buy a small house then upgrade as you need more space or should I right off the bat get a big house and grow into it as our family grows?
Public Schools enrollment has gone down in these areas. Look up and find out reasons. It’s a brainwashing machine. Save your kids and take them private unless you don’t care about them mentality messed up by the time they go to middle school.
I’m conservative so I know exactly what you mean. The problem I see with that is two fold 1. I’m not convinced that taking them to private school will exclude them from brainwashing. Especially if they can still receive that brainwashing from social media. 2. I plan on having three kids so private school is not economically feasible.
Yeah they’re teaching kids that there was slavery in America and not everyone is a straight Christian. The nerve.
I would look up the school district feeder maps to confirm the assigned school for a given house location. Also, look up the Washington OSPI website for school report card.
Thank you!
Westside Bellevue is more desirable, period.
In a couple of years, housing prices will be up 50%+ and you won’t be able to afford Bellevue. So don’t even worry about it.
I think you’re looking at the 5th question the wrong way. You shouldn’t play some optimization game with your kids to help them rank better. Personal anecdote: I went to a bad middle school, a top high school, and a mediocre (but extremely cheap) state university - Im very sure the good high school changed the trajectory of my life. For me at least I needed to be surrounded by people smarter than me to tell me I wasn’t as smart was I thought I was and so I needed to work hard to compete and get what I wanted
I understand. Liberals are extremely intolerant.

Should I marry a lazy girl?
All good questions but maybe you should ask in a few years when you actually can afford one in Bellevue?
It strikes me odd that you don't even plan to buy a house now.
So I can only ask questions about Bellevue if I can afford to buy there? That kind of gatekeeping strikes me as odd.
