I like the Chinese/Singapore approach to drugs. Harsh, but every moron in a shit situation here gets stoned out of their mind these days. Every door dash loser I walk past reeks of pot. Of course their life is depressing and sad.
Weed is not a problem, it’s less harmful than alcohol. The problem is hard drugs that cause serious addiction, mainly meth, crack, and heroin. Punish users and dealers of those drugs severely and leave the potheads alone.
I use pot and other drugs, and my life is not depressing or sad.
I mean, the city is rich from all the money poured into it by tech. The key problem has been ideology — Americans are biased against poor people, being homeless, having a drug addiction, etc. and therefore are unwilling to make bold moves. Building yet another homeless shelter won’t solve anything (though it may be necessary), we need much broader initiatives around health, education and rehabilitation at the municipal level to give these people a path forward, and hope. If government wasn’t so paralyzed by politics and was able to propose real bold moves I bet they’d be able to partner with businesses to move things forward.
I’ve said it before. The first important solution would be socialized healthcare, so those who have a mental disease or an addiction (or both) can get treatment if they want to, and get their life back in shape.
These people will do drugs no matter what. Most Americans are naive, dumb, uneducated slobs. How do you help someone incapable of thinking of tomorrow? Either build a shanty town for these people or they'll always be on the street until a venereal disease dissolves their brain.

A dingbat like her getting elected itself is a sign of where things were heading. You don’t elect socialists like Savant overnight. The populace starts changing for that to happen. Speaking of which, is it just me or the air quality is getting worse lately? When I first moved here from LA 4 years ago the air quality was so good. Now I see smog pretty often and the air quality reading often hovers around 55ish, its like LA all over again.
In Seattle? It’s nonexistent except during summer fire season
But lately when I look at the sky its rather smoggy. Air index shows its at 45-55 rather often.
I just watched this in the morning. So sad.
My Seattle friends sent me this too. 💯 agree. Lived there for 11 years. Visited last fall and I couldn’t even believe how shitty the city has become. So sad.
