Why Worshipping Lord Ram Important in Hinduism?
Moving to Washington and debating whether to live in Seattle or Bellevue. Can anyone recommend a good apartment building? Looking specifically for a 1BD 1-1.5B with a budget of 2.3-2.5K on the high end. I preferably want good sound proofing and to be close to public transportation. If you have a good recommendation that does not have these two criterias or one or the other, I still would like to know what you recommend. Thanks! TC: 105K Edit: Lofts are cool too :) #housing

Where are you moving from? Downtown Seattle & Seattle area in general might shock you with all the homeless, property crimes and needles on side walks (bdw I live in Seattle but I am used to it).. Bellevue has a good mix of suburb and city feel with nice clean streets. Its super expensive though. AMLI in downtown bellevue used to be a nice apt with main street right there and the park few steps away.. not sure how it is now
Im moving from a suburb but I also lived in a downtown area before as well so I am indifferent between the two. I just want a good apartment (amneties, spacing, management), somewhere I can enjoy staying at home for days on end. Wfh, on call, etc...
Why one these two places? With working fully remote, moving a little away from city could mean lesser rents. Ymmv Currently in Sammamish, good apartments but no central AC, matter of fact, no central AC in any apartments I found online while hunting
You’re right, I could pay less rent moving further out. I personally just prefer these two areas because of what they both have to offer. I am considering moving further out after I get an experience of living in one of these two places. Thanks for the suggestion :)
Hey, I am looking for good apts in the same area. Which one is yours? Is it quiet in terms of walls between apartments? Thanks for answer, that would help a lot.
I moved to Seattle from Miami 3 years ago and IMO the crime and homeless problems people are citing are way overblown. In my entire time here I’ve only had one negative interaction with a homeless person and it was in Fremont. Maybe I’ve just been lucky, but I’ve never seen a needle on the street even once.
Oh and Bellevue is definitely cleaner if you’re into that. To me it’s a little too clean to the point of being creepy if that makes sense 🤣
I honestly assumed as much after watching YouTube videos of people doing walkthroughs in different neighborhoods. The problems are definitely there, but not as drastic as for example, Kensington.
OP, try renting out someone’s condo in Bellevue. Rents are lower, generally half of the utilities are included, and usually comes with a parking lot. Cheers!
This is not something I have looked into. Thank you!
You will get much better deals than what people are suggesting here with Amli, etc. For gyms, just get a gym membership. Communities like Amli will charge you $150 for parking. Rent someone’s condo instead!
I think it helps to pick an area you want to live first, and the apartment second! This makes things a lot less overwhelming, since every area in general will have a wide range of decent suggestions. Unless you *really* don’t care about the location. If you want quiet, clean with little nightlife look into the SLU/north Denny triangle area. Belltown is seedy but has great nightlife. I moved from downtown to Capitol Hill after my first year and it was a great decision for me since it’s a much younger demographic so I started making a lot more friends! In general the public transportation here is leagues ahead of Miami, but living near a light rail terminal could be a big advantage if you use the train a lot. There’s a ton of brand new luxury apartments popping up near the Capitol Hill terminal that seem worth looking into (I would say this area of downtown Broadway is getting pretty lively but it does come with the increased sketchiness and homelessness if that’s something you’re not used to- IMO it’s not too bad but others would disagree).
Capitol Hill and Queen Anne are my top destinations at the moment for Seattle! I do not mind the sketchiness as much granted would be better not to have :) Nightlife is definitely something I look forward to once in a while!
You said you prioritize public transportation. Eliminate the east side if you aren’t prepared to drive or own a car. Budget is fine anywhere in Seattle. But the market is pretty crazy right now. Almost all inventory in Seattle is rented out before you can schedule a viewing.
Thanks for mentioning the car situation. I personally do own a car so I do not mind. My biggest gripe with the inventory has been, from what I think, the terrible planning/layout of the units that are available. I would not be surprised if the good ones are rented quickly. If you know of any lofts in the area I would be interested. Currently looking at one offering but it is on the first floor and the other units have priced me out unfortunately...
I prefer Bellevue and used to live in Courtyard off Main apartments. Not the newest building, but rent (at the time) was decent. That are of Bellevue is very nice and next to a really nice track/park to run and exercise.
Were there any downsides while staying there?
Not really. I would take the bus from Bellevue to Seattle (at the time I was in Varzea). It was a cool 3 min walk to catch the 550 into Seattle. If you are on the younger side and single, Seattle was still the best spot to meet other single people. So if you want to be right in the center of that. Then prob Seattle is better. I’m sure covid changed all that tho.
