A salesperson from a secondary equity market firm contacted me to sell secondary market Stripe shares. 25k investment minimum, but the shares are priced at $66 vs $25 with what I saw on TechCrunch. Has anyone invested before in pre-IPO shares?
I sold some pre-ipo stock last December. The fee the broker charges is 5% of the total transaction fee (Forge Global, EquityZen, etc) with a minimum transaction amount of ~50k. It was a solid deal for me, the pre IPO stock I sold is worth 60% less than what I sold it for now. No scam. I don't imagine we'll be seeing many IPOs over the next few years.
I'm an idiot and didn't read the post. Don't buy, it's a scam 😂
Yeah 'trust me bro"!
Salesperson: “good sir would you please buy this 30 bucks stock for 70?” You:r response should b: “fuck off kindly”

You will pay a hefty hefty premium. Like 50% or more.
Ok, so too good to be true and a ripoff.
That is the price you pay for someone to make a market for you. It can work out if you buy right but it’s almost always a bad deal. Note that the premium is on both the buy AND sell side. So if you bought and then sold, the market maker will take 20% to buy and 20% to sell.
