What kind of security is promised by Amazon re my Echo recording every phrase uttered in my apartment. Assuming she only listens after hearing the key phrase ("Alexa") but it seems entirely likely that someone could hack the mic to be always on. Similarly, how much security is there between my device and Amazons machine learning and/or the location they store my data. Was security baked in to the device initially, or was it an add-on feature that got cut back to the bare minimum?
In Alexa App, go to settings / History __View Requests To Alexa. Then click on any entry and click play to hear your voice for everything you ever told it. Plus, it goes back for over a year for me
Yeah I was pretty freaked out the first time I found that. But as long as it's only the audio after I say "Alexa", I don't feel it's that private
protection is well thought.. it's not easy to hack..
it's always listening and will happily stream your voice to NSA. To believe anything else is to be naive. Go read 1984 unless it's sold out...
Already read it. But I'm too young and have made too many mistakes already - I have no privacy. I can't beat em, I'm going to join em
I doubt it's only that. look at how well curated your ads are. have you never said something to someone and instantly seen ads for it on Facebook?
that's because facebook listens. Watch for my lawsuit coming up. It would be okay if the.bastards told you they listened.

Should I grind LC then interview or just stay in Amazon?
My opinion is that it only listens when asked. But yes, it could, and you'd never know. Maybe even AMZN wouldn't know either...
