Hey everyone, I need some advice. My CPA has already prepared my tax return (not filed yet) and generated Form 8879, but I haven't signed anything or paid yet. Unfortunately, there are several mistakes in the return, and I'm not getting timely responses from my CPA. Is it appropriate to ask him not to file my taxes this year? (given Form 8879 is already generated) Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated! #cpa #irs #tax
Yes, it's appropriate.
You can file now and immediately file 1040X with corrections. Hopefully, correction results in lower tax. If correction results in higher tax, there can be some penalties
This is the main reason I don’t go with any CPA. Why can’t you do turbo tax ? It’s not that hard and accurate as long as you put accurate data.
had f1 to h1b change, and some wrong state tax withheld that i want to be refunded, thats why:)
Everything is doable in turbo tax if you use it correctly.
I am assuming you are taking standard deduction and won't be claiming any SALT deductions. File Federal taxes first. No issue here. You can revisit if 1040-X is warranted. Regarding state taxes, will you be missing any state tax filing. I understand you are looking to recoup excess tax. Don't miss any state tax filing either. You can file amended returns to recoup excess payment
