Dumb Question. Maybe. Is it possible for someone to complete the real estate agent certification and act as listing agent for their own house? And all this on H1b Visa? Not interested in becoming a proper agent as that would surely violate the rules. But just as a way to avoid the ridiculous agent fees. #housing
No you can't under H1B. You need at least an EAD card to do this.
Any references? Seems like you are not earning any income here and it is passive. Surely the govt wouldn't care if you get a real estate license otherwise that's pretty crazy restriction

Even in this incredible sellers' market, an experienced agent can save you countless headaches and in the end money. That said, you can sell your house as a FSBO (For Sale By Owner) without a license. If your buyer is working with an agent, they will have a fee. If you go the FSBO route, hire an attorney for the contracts.
Good point about FSBO route - I am not sure what it is but typically those FSBO listings look like crap (atleast in Greater Seattle area). I guess its just a matter of hiring the right photographer and staging companies to make things look good. Don't have too much experience with the market but does FSBO signal to buyers that house is not great?
If house market is hot all you need is a camera.
