I am a B2C & B2B marketing leader with 8 years of experience. My major is growth marketing but I also have experience in building and leading teams in product marketing. My career trajectory has been marketing agency (analyst to VP), Director of Marketing (first marketing hire at Series A and build out a team of 6 until Series C) and then another Director of Marketing role (Similar trajectory as before). I am starting to notice that I have become labeled this early stage marketing leader that can grow and build full stack marketing teams from 0 to 1, and my comp has been traditionally been Base salary ($180K to $220K) and then paper equity! I'm seeing some of my peers at same experience years (+-2 years) making way more in big tech because despite lower salary they have bonuses and RSUs! This is motivating me to search for big tech jobs to optimize for $ but I have been trouble getting considered even with referrals. I know big tech indexes for more product marketing and product manager roles and less growth marketing (Tons of PMMs at Meta, but not everyone can just be a VP of Demand/Growth Marketing). Felt I have hit a ceiling for my cash comp as of now and paper equity is what it is! RSUs make such a difference in wealth creation. Wanted to ask if others are in the same boat and going through something similar? #growth #marketing #bigtech
I did not read all that but dm if you’d like a TikTok / Bytedance referral

Big tech might be a stretch. Go for a promising later stage startup first. Something like Canva, or one of the hot but less known AI startups where they will appreciate your experience but where you can also build the skills for scale. Big tech won't even consider you (or maybe only for some junior roles) if all you have done is 0-1 in early stage startups. It's a very different skillset.
This has been a challenge also. Getting traction on later stage pre ipo startups
Sorry to hear, don't give up, keep looking, market is bad right now
