I'm just writing this because it seems there is a bit of misconception believing that only graduated offers are being rescinded. Unfortunately happened to me yesterday, I got a call from the HQ and my recruiter had no idea #layoff #uber
You mean compensation? Sorry, english is not my first language
They mentioned one month of salary while looking for new employment, I didn't quit to my previous role though so I don't know if this apply to me. It seems I need to sign a document first and it will arrive the next couple of days
I was gonna be relocated to the States, and I cancelled some onsites because of this offer. Sorry to hear mate, unfortunately this is out of our hands
I told my employer that I was quitting at the end of June but fortunately they haven't found someone to replace me so i'll stay longer. Not really happy in my current position tbh but in these times people must be grateful
Sorry to hear man! Which team were you supposed to join?
Drivers
Pretty logical. If they are rescinding Junior offers, senior offers are 2x times (if not more) more. The company is in grave loss. The way I'd look at their balance sheet. If they can't afford a junior engineer, no way they can pay $500k+ senior offers
On the money perspective yes, on the performance perspective maybe, probably better to have someone with experience that needs to be trained less than a junior. However, the only reason I made this post was because I saw many post saying only grad offers are being cancelled.
Unfortunately you can’t replace a senior engineer with even 3 lower level ICs at least not in my area of work. If management is smart enough to figure that out or not is another question though they may be fine taking on massive tech debt to save a few pennies.
My 5A offer was rescinded too. About rehiring, I do hear no interview is needed from the recruiter. Also checked with the law firm, they will keep your H1 transfer record, so no much visa work to do if rehiring.
My recruiter mentioned that Uber policy is no interview if 6 months after offer and that he'll try to push as much as possible to not to have interview in case of rehiring but he mentioned is not up to him.
1 year would have been useful. I expect it will take at least 6 months to settle the things in air.
Which companies are we talking ?
Uber. There is a hashtag in the original post.
Did they say anything about rehiring after things settled down?
They mentioned that if in the future there was a position open available they would let me recruiter know, however this probably means go through the whole process again.
Does that mean you would have to do the whole phone interview -> on-site loop all over again??
