I have 2 YOE at AbbVie and am interviewing for a Senior Scientist role at Amgen SSF. The recruiter said the base comp is 175k with 15% bonus target. It seems kind of low compared to other big pharma in Bay Area. Any thoughts on what would be a good base comp? I was hoping to be around 190-210k.
I would focus on TC vs just base considering bonus, stock and IMO, 10% 401k Match. I’m not familiar with scientist TC range but we are often lower in base and decent/higher on TC compared to other pharma
175 base sounds not low to me. Mind if I ask is the job is lab-related or clinical related?
It’s lab based. Also, I heard Genentech and gilead have 180k+ base for 2+YOE. So thought Amgen is kind of lowballing.
Thanks for sharing. 180K?! The market must be really crazy. There is a reply below saying 150-160 for base though, must be really role and responsibility related.
I was wondering the same thing. WhT grade level is a Sr Scientist at Abbvie?
There are Sr Scientist I and Sr Scientist II. Sr Scientist I is PhD entry level
Yea, senior scientist 1 is fresh PhD. But Amgen Senior Scientist is 2+years experience I guess.
Are you 2YOE after PhD or after a Postdoc?
