I'm expecting an offer from a startup that just closed series B funding. Current TC: $130K YOE: 15 New Title: Director Operations Series B funding: $100M Series B valuation: $350M What could I expect them to offer for salary vs what I could be reasonably asking for? What is the appropriate equity stake I should be seeking?
$160-$180k, 0.1 - 0.2%. Clearly from your YOE and TC, this is a senior administrative function. .5% is absurd.
Why is 0.5 absurd? It is very normal. I got offered 0.5 as a SWE3 at my last company. Series A, similar round and eval
you were SWE3. 0.5% is reasonable for that role at Series A. you do know that Series A is not a similar round?? and the role here is not even close??
I am more concerned about the startup valuation though. That was a bad round.
??? please explain how that is a bad round. OP didn’t say pre or post but assuming post it’s 28.5% of the company at unknown revenue. $350M for B is fine. pretty decent actually. of course if their A round was $250M then maybe there’s a problem but we don’t have that info
A round was $50M I believe. B round has not closed yet. They secured some key contracts and working on some big fish + global expansion.
You’re a director, ask for ~0.5 to 1% of the company. If they offer you any less, you’re getting screwed.
