What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Wow, I spoke with a ServiceNow recruiter -- is this reflective of the ServiceNow culture?!? Very matter-of-fact and cold screening. Then the recruiter asks my total comp (salary+bonus+rsu) expectation, with a $20k range (which seems impossible because RSU packages are all over the place and I don't know what they'd offer!). I then asked what the range is and he wouldn't share it. I looked it up online while talking and told him what it said and he told me that's not accurate (some BS about zones etc). I felt extremely on the spot but I told him what I earned previously and said ideally I want to get back to X but I could go as low as Y (a bigger range than requested but trying to give a lower number that is in his mystery range) ... but I'm just getting started with market discovery and hesitant to even say that or commit to anything too specific that's lower, until I go through that process a bit. The response was a bit condescending -- people are not getting what they did 1-2 years ago and its common to accept 30-40% lower now. And, I don't "seem to know the market" if I cannot give an accurate number, so no point in proceeding but give a call back if I get to clarity on that. It felt like high pressure car sales! Trying to push me into committing to a low number on the spot! So yeah, is this what ServiceNow is like? I'm sincerely curious!
My wife who used to work for Meta and laid off in April (her entire department was laid off) had same experience with service now recruiters and hiring managers. Avoid that company for now. They are just taking advantage of the misfortunes of all the recent layoffs.

Service now recruiters are the worst Iāve ever met
Have you interviewed at EY ?
Agree
I don't recommend
This is stupid. Name and shame.
Got 3 calls from Servicenow recruiter and each time they confirmed with me thrice if I will relocate, which was confirmed positively. Then the ghosts of oz descended and chapter closed.

Try Rippling if you want
Can you refer me?
Rippling has better recruiters but worse culture than Now
Was the recruiter an older white man with āover 20 years of experience in the Silicon Valleyā? I had a terrible experience with him the first time I applied and it turned me off the company all together. He chuckled and said āYouāre under qualified and overpaid in your current position. We donāt even pay our principal engineers that!ā The second time, I got referred and had the best experience (with a different recruiter).
Yeah. That recruiter needs to go. Someone else had to cover his ass as he ghosted. When he did finally respond, he was brutally aggressive.
Sounds like my guy
Yes, definitely avoid service now for now if you can wait.
They are pulling all the psychological tricks they know. Donāt give up or get discouraged.
Yep. Remember this and never forget: these companies don't give a damn about you. Always look out for number 1.
Itās just a game. 5D Chess. Play it like a game and make your moves. Donāt get sentimental.
