I received an offer recently for a role at SXM to work as an SDE2. Currently working for 90k TC, this offer would be an increase, however I’m not sure on the outlook of the company. It seems to me that they’re performing at an average level but I’m not sure what to expect going into a recession with diminished job market. What I’m hoping for is to take the offer and not be a victim of layoffs but I’m not too familiar with the company’s market. The hiring manager seems to be hiring quite a lot on the team, so it seems layoffs aren’t too concerning? Just looking for thoughts. Offer details: 110k base 15k stock Remote 1 YOE #siriusxm #software #swe #pandora #engineering
location?
It’s fully remote, I’m a currently in a low cost of living area however.
Run away!!! Don’t quit your job for SiriusXM. They are having major problems. They have been laying off silently. And specially if you’re not a white male, you have no future here.
Which org?
Any tech org under the new CTO Joe.
I would say company is doing relatively better than other loss making companies like Spotify snap Lyft etc. Q3 results were not bad. I would say not much pressure. Join if you get good tc bump. We have refreshers every year and also half Fridays Congratulations and best of luck.
I found this post about SiriusXM CTO which gives a lot of insights on what’s going on here: https://us.teamblind.com/s/ngWW74w5

Is it true anyone can vote in America?
It really depends on the team/org you’re joining. Do you have any info about that?
It’s with SiriusXM, specifically on platform architecture and a few internal tools such as a SDK possibly, according to the hiring manager. Primarily low level code
