At Waymo being recruited by Zoox. Heard they have both paper money and amazon stock. How does that work? Do you think they will have larger financial upside than Waymo? TC: 370 #Zoox #Waymo

What’s a “Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights”?
They're like a different kind of option. When you exercise, you don't pay the strike price (good) and just get cash as the difference (mixed). Being cash, there's no further growth like if you had received and held onto shares after exercising an option.
Interesting. Do those options compare well against competitors? Say $400k/4 years? Also, isn’t Zoox part of Amazon? Are you saying it might IPO one day like Waymo?
Can you provide details and level for yourself at Waymo? What is the breakup of 370k? Also to answer the question the, I will say the Amazon RSU Grant and options together and definitely comparable against competition. For example 300k RSU + 250k ZARs

Also about the upside, I guess one nice thing about Zoox is that you don't have to wait for IPO for liquidity. The liquidity is Gauranteed. The price of ZARs is expected to grow by 10x in next 4-5 years. But that maybe a bullish outlook. No one can be 100% certain. The downside of course is while you can keep the Amazon grant for life, you will have to cash out any vested ZAR when you leave. Also we may still IPO like AWS can technically IPO. You can have your opinion about how likely or unlikely that is.
I got offers from both Waymo and Zoox. Zoox pays about half of what Waymo pays in total package, and Zoox didn’t even try to match.

Waymo is the move. Anyone would be foolish to leave Waymo for Zoox (with rare exceptions)

Waymo has better upside. Also better stability thanks to Google
