I’m in the market for a new (family friendly) car and want to avoid the dearlership hell. Anyone have experience buying online example from Shift? Any gotchas to keep in mind would be extremely helpful. Ty!
Negotiate everything via email. Have them mail you papers and they can deliver at your doorstep. Alternatively, Leverage broker services who will do all the work and deliver it to your doorstep.
I've had them bring me 2 cars to test drive. There's no haggling if you use Shift, also means you may not get best price. Also they track on around 2k for their part in the deal. Not any better than a dealer. Unless you find some unbeatable deal, I'd avoid Shift and go with a dealer. You can get them to throw in perks, get discounted items, extended warranties etc.
Why not carmax?
Carvana?
Costco?
Shift is great.
Use a broker
Thanks - going to look into this.
Shift is good, but you don’t really save any money as compared to dealership when you take into account the shift service fee
Buy last years model. It takes patience but my fully loaded truck went from 55k to 27.5k because they had to move last years model.
