I'll be doing a "Life story" interview with Shopify, for a Data Science role. Does anyone know what to expect in that? The recruiter didn't share too many tangible details so wanted to ask here since I haven't done this type of interview before #datascience #interview
Whatās it supposed to be? āTell us about your life?ā
Itās mostly going through your professional life. How it started? And then going through details of each company/role in your resume. It covers things like what you enjoyed, what challenges you faced, why did you moved from company A to B etc, if you are applying for Manager then how did you end up in that role. Itās a conversation.
Thank you for sharing!
Thatās interesting. I wonder how someone could āfailā this interview. āIncumbent is boring story tellerā¦failā
What kind of position is it? Just wondering what suitable role you found to make a switch from Discover to Shopify
It's a Data Science role. A lot of DS skills are transferrable so moving industries is not very difficult
I passed this interview about a month ago. Make sure you talk about your professional experience in a way that shows that youāve been growing year by year. This is what worked for me.
Thank you for sharing!
Broadly speaking, it's mostly interviewee-led. While you do talk about professional experience they're interested in seeing what parts you choose to highlight. It's like a behavioral interview but open ended so it's a less stilted conversation
Is it like a presentation with ppt. Or only talking. Any time range
Very cool. Thanks for the info.
There were similar questions before. I did fail this particular interview though. Not sure why, my life might have not been impressive enough. It was quite open ended. Do not even know what to suggest.
Did it feel like one of those behavioral interviews where they talk about "Tell me about a time where X happened"? I'm not even sure about what they're looking for in this interview lol
It felt like I will never apply to Shopify again š The whole thing is subjective. Itās like you talk about your career and then get judged.
