Just got the Shopify offer 120k base no bonus , no sign on 45k stock. Should I even renegotiate? Not first job current TC 175 base 300 stock (this is an old account ) Update I walked away
What level? YOE? Location? You literally gave zero details.
Wait! What's your present TC? Must be a step down for sure?
Never hurts to try negotiating. Just be clear to the recruiter that there’s a significant gap.
Doesn’t matter if there’s a gap; there are 100 people behind OP willing to take the Shopify job for peanuts
Why?
Shopify is notorious for shitty tc. Their ceo(who is a billionaire) came out and said salary shouldn’t be a main motivator for employee
Is that 300k stock a year or over four years? Brutal offer tho… SWE?
Over 4
I got downleveled by them and offered 130k base. Knowing I had a competing offer for ~30k more, I was only able to negotiate up to 140k.
I’d say you can do better. Have you tried other remote companies? Otherwise it really depends on how much remote is worth to you. If it lets you move to a cheap area and buy a house, then if that’s your priority over working at Netflix then it’s a decent option.
45k stock a year or total over 3? What job level did you get offered? It's hard to comment without the details. I can help once I know what you're working with
First job ?
