Should Google buy Samsung (consumer electronics division)?

Let’s be honest it’s about who controls the hardware. Apple has let Google be the default search engine but what if they stop? Would they not eventually do it once they have something somewhat half good? Similarly maps, YouTube also What if Samsung builds their own OS and ditches Android? I know these are not probable things but are possible. So instead of investing 120$B in stock buyback over two years why not attack the real problem.

Google bought motorola when motorola was a thing.. they didn't know what to do with it and sold it

Nah they pulled off a great heist there - they took the treasure trove of patents and sold the rest. That's why there are no patent lawsuits over android anymore.

Why would Samsung sell the whole country’s quarter GDP to Google? $120B wouldnt cover that cost, let’s be real And Samsung has been trying their own OS (BadaOS > Tizen OS) and chipsets (thru semiconductor business)

Samsung mcap is 300$B, consumer hardware alone would be lower than this. PE ratio is only 11

It’s not just the market cap and numbers, it’s the country’s pride and identity It wouldn’t be good optics
