Yes
:( I didn’t want to jeopardize my chances by trying to maximize TC but probably way undercut myself. If I ask for $260 as the base and not TC if I got an offer, how do you think that conversation would go?
No point pondering. Typically don’t put a number out there unless that’s above 500K is my policy
Have you verbally accepted or formally accepted or is this what you just told verbally to the recruiter?
Just verbally chatted with the recruiter.
You can do two things. Contact the recruiter now and tell him/her that you had a chance to think about it more and do some research and have come up with some new numbers. There is a possibility it might piss him/her off. On the other hand you can wait for the offer and say you would like to think about it and then do the same thing a few days later. It all depends on the rapport you have built with the recruiter and what signals you have gotten from a negotiation perspective from him/her.
The answer to this is always yes. The only real way to know if you’ve asked for enough is if they revoke their offer.
You could have done better
Can you give me a frame of reference for better? Is $300k TC too aggressive?
Not at all
