Nike: I have an offer from Nike as a contractor that's $133k/year with no benefits. But, I'm having second thoughts after reading how Nike seems to treat their contractors. Pros of Nike: - Remote - $133k TC - I think I'd like the work Cons of Nike: - Treated like a contractor - e.g. work dumped on contractors - Lose my job at 12 months - e.g. they don't convert - They seem to be anti-tech - Once I accept, it's hard to switch again without coming off as a job hopper Current Role: Meanwhile, I'm in a role that I enjoy where my salary + benefits equate to $100k/yr. Pros of Current Role: - I like my coworkers - Relaxed work - Because I've been in my role for a while, I can readily find a new position Cons of Current Role: - $100k TC Which do you think I should choose? TC: 100k #tech #question #nike #offer #contractor
Your pros and cons explains everything! Why even making this as a polling just stay where you are! Duh
Ahhh, it's just so hard. +30k TC, RIP. Thanks for your input!
This is a no brainer. Stay where you are at. After taxes and with health insurance you might break even, but with no guarantee of stability and still no other benefits (like PTO).
I’d keep looking. Consider this experience good practice. Ideally you should be looking for a better bump when switching jobs. 30% pay increase is what you want but I’d wait until you can find a spot with benefits to make it a true 30% pay increase
If it was more like $85/hr on W2 (~160k/yr) I would say go for it
No employee swoosh discount = no go
What if Nike ends your contract early? They don't need any reason. You may take one month to find a new contract
Just do it
Doesn’t need a poll as you already know it’s not worth it. Contracting is always temporary and you are risking it by leaving a FT role. Nike does have certain projects / managers considering contractors under 2080 rule irrespective of the vendor. Anti tech., definitely yes they are product company and I take it!
Do you have healthcare covered?
Currently, I do, but as a Nike contractor, I'd have to buy my own.
Also, 33k doesn’t seem like enough to leave a FT job for a temporary one. In this job market I would just keep applying and find something permanent
