Title. Sometimes I check my emails and slack during vacation. I think I do it to avoid big surprises when I'm back. And sometimes I see some messages which I think I could answer (again to make things easy when I'm back or unblock someone). But I'm not sure if acting like that will make people not respect my WLB and always expect me to be present or overload me. Actually I think I shouldn't do it but sometimes I have an urge to answer because of mentioned reasons.
Don't do this. It'll set a bad precedence for yourself and create bad expectations from your teammates when they're on their vacation (esp if you're a senior)
Fuck no
If you're like me and can't help but check Slack on vacation, then yeah, answer people... But unless the answer is super simple, "I'm on PTO and will take a look at this when I get back" is a great answer.
Isn’t that the point of a OOO Auto reply?
Slack has OOO responses now?
No
Up to you, no obligation!
I manage a small team and intentionally avoid bothering them while they are on vacation.
Sign out. You should never see it while on vacation.
Not unless you are in a critical project or role…
Sometimes I work on Saturday to finish some leftover on Friday and I post notes in Slack. And very often I see infra people reply my threads carefully with codes and stuff on Sunday. Since then I always add a sentence saying please enjoy your weekends and don't work on Sunday and I'm leaving stuff here only for next week. But I still see messages popping up on Sunday... A little worried since I couldn't tell if they are really enthusiastic about work or feeling pressured or something. Overall it's probably just better not to post anything off work both for yourself and others.
Schedule send feature was developed for you friend. I just schedule send these notes so that they only land Monday morning
Scheduling and reminders are amazing

No. Don't even check email or slack on vacation. One should completely disengage from work to completely refresh yourself.
