Should I give up my GC process for an offer @ FB?

Currently working for a mid-size startup, just filed my PERM 2 months ago (EB3 & my country is current). It took the lawyer about 15 months to file my perm (not sure if that is normal?!) Now I got an offer @ FB and I’m confused on whether I should take it and give up on the past 18 months of GC work or postpone my start date until I either submit the I-140 or receive my GC? Please help me make that choice

Oh then you’ve time man. Stop it crash it and join FB.

Postpone Fb’s offer, it can wait 1 year, right?

Yeah, I can postpone it, not sure for how long though

I think 6 month after your perm you can leave the company. So you should be able to postpone for 4 months. Ask FB, they have good lawyers

15 months to file??? What????? Maybe I am missing something here, but heck no, you don’t need 15 months to file those forms. Definitely gc over facebook.

Why is that? My gut feeling is FB can go through perm again much faster though

Oscar tc/gtfo Jun 20, 2018

Oh I thought you meant going back. Just talk to facebook.

Where are you currently working at? I would assume FB would be prompt in filing your GC too

Yeah they would start as soon as I join a team.

They can do that, it’s just hard to predict when GC process would be done assuming no audit was made

If you are rest of the world and going to FB, nothing to worry. You can just join and get GC or you can wait and join. Just choose what's better for your career. If it was China then it would be a different case. (Even if it was Indian, they would be fine coz they'll anyways not get in their lifetimes 😀)

Makes sense, thanks for the recommendation. Is it okay to leave the current employer once I get GC though?

Microsoft abby609 Jun 21, 2018

The satire on Indians .. I guess we Indians should stop going to US for work. It wouldn't make any difference to US anyways. Sometimes I imagine how the world would become if All American companies only hired American people and no foreigners .

Get GC and then join Fb. Fb has 3-4 months wait period. You need to pass boot camp and join a team and then get Manager approval to start the process. Plus, FB fires very aggressively. If I were in your shoes, I would get he green card or wait till I485/I140 is filed for 6 months (10 months from now) and then join fb.

No you can negotiate this before signing. They can start immediately. I asked my recruiter.

Facebook Akaye Jun 20, 2018

Recruiter doesn’t know shit. You need manager approval to start the process. You only have a manager if you are preallocated; else 4 months

Get GC. most important thing if you plan to stay here. Long term is more important then short term. Good luck.

Amazon Ben Dover Jun 20, 2018

Stay where you are. GC is important, you can always join your dream company later.
