Should I hop to DoorDash after recent stock growth?

Here are some things to consider: Dell: My current TC is around 190k. My bonus and RSU of ~30k vest in June. <20hrs a week of work. DoorDash: I have an offer of around 270k TC at DoorDash. I heard doordash can go above 40 hrs a week. But I feel like their stock grew too much recently, up 100% in the past year, so actual TC can plumit very fast if I join now. Is it worth taking the offer and giving up my bonus and RSUs? Is the extra TC worth at least 2x the workload? YOE: 2

If they don’t make money now, when will they?

DoorDash YHmA33 Feb 11

This is such a stupid argument. Purposefully investing more than you’re making does not mean you’re incapable of profiting.. look Uber is profitable now. The whole “gig companies are not viable and will never make money” can end LOL

That shit will get absolutely murdered in a recession. It has no mote. Credit card bills are already ticking higher. I don’t think it has a long-term future.

DoorDash might layoff, it is non-profitable, and stock is overvalued. The upcoming earnings and few quarters can be a mess. If you are on visa, you should be very careful.

Why do you think the upcoming earnings can be a mess ?

What’s level in Dell 2 YoE really good salary ? Are you in Seattle or bay area?

Door dash has some challenging technical problems. You can parlay that into some big offers later down the road. Dell will be harder to parlay into more senior faang roles

I’d say you’d probably have more career and technical growth at DD, but at the cost of some WLB and instability. If you’re on visa, just had a kid or other situations where stability is crucial, then don’t come. If not, I don’t see why you wouldn’t

How many hours do you work per week? Is it meeting heavy?

DoorDash YHmA33 Feb 12

Personally I have a very strong WLB. I work ~30-35 hours a week, but I’m also in a pretty chill team and I don’t think it’s normal. Not too meeting heavy, maybe 30min-2 hrs of meetings on an average day. I think I have it more chill than a lot of people at DD tho, so you probably should get some more opinions

What is more important for you? More money, career growth or stable job and cool life? For some people the extra money through job is not worth sacrificing 20 more hours in a week. You can work on your alternative career/ hobbies/relationships with the extra time. For some earning more money/ investing early in the career and better technical challenges for future growth are important.
