Got an offer from Stubhub for engineering role. I wanted to know how the culture is and if I should join? Got mixed reviews from friends and Glassdoor.
I don't know about StubHub specifically, but ticketing is a really nasty vertical. StubHub is the biggest player, but there are a lot of other marketplaces as well (Vivid Seats, SeatGeek, TickPick, TicketNetwork). Ticket brokers control the entire market, so the marketplaces are basically under the brokers' thumbs. I'm not really sure what StubHub would be doing that would be interesting engineering-wise. They're more or less an e-commerce company.
TC ? If the TC is good why not
Glassdoor bad reviews are true. Good reviews are from HR or customer service representatives (Draper, UT). There are more managers or ppl with “political” manager mindset than ICs. Engineers are in low morale, not happy and leaving.
I work there now and am actively looking to get out as are many. This place is a sinking ship. Every time I see someone waiting to interview I want to reach out and tell them to run. Unless you’re about to be on the streets and need a job take another offer elsewhere and save yourself the stress.
Stay away! Many engineers are actively on the hunt to get out. There is practically no growth here. The leaders lie on your face, they don’t care at all.
This has been said many times but if you stay at a company you don’t like or feel appreciated why do you stay? Are you such a bad engineer that you can’t get another job in this market? Sad. Every company has its issues. I feel StubHub is actively working on change. More than I can say for the shit talkers on Blind.
Fake news. Fact: stubhub is becoming a school of politicians with nothing done. No other company can be at the same level.
"are you such a bad engineer that you can't get another job in this market?"- you should learn about the situation before saying things like this.
Run away!
No. The culture can be fun if you're on the right team and super passionate about sports. But we're not growing and our P&T team can't roll anything out in a timely manner
