I struggled to fit into my team and I still do. I’m assigned stupid work that doesn’t actually aid me in becoming a better developer. I chase and chase for help/assistance and people seem very unwilling. Spoke to HR - that was the worst decision I made. I wanted to move teams to see if it got any better, but was told I must remain a year before moving. Waking up every morning to do this job is unfulfilling as fuck. The thought of working for this company irks me lol. Anyway, I have a job offer at a smaller firm which does very similar work. Their culture is great and the work they do interests me a lot more than what I currently do. And I get a pay rise. My only incentives to stay at JP is job security and the name being on my CV. I’ve only been here 8 months. Should I take the offer? I feel a bit bad but at the same time, this doesn’t feel right for me
If you're in finance at JP Chase, yes it would look good on your resume. Dev? I don't think too many companies would care as much. If your work is unfulfilling and your growth has stalled, it's time to move on.
Yes you’re right. I’m a dev and I’m not learning anything to help my career lol. i just fix JP morgan tech problems
Leave ASAP
You work and Chase yet you’re chasing people to get work done
Hilarious right!
Been there. Left the org as the politics and the chase ate up my energy. Not worth staying. Looking back, it was a good decision.
That’s exactly what I’m dealing with. Managers have no clue what’s going on at a lower level. No organisation whatsoever. Glad it was a good decision
Thanks for the advice everyone. Seems having the name on the CV is nothing special. Handing in my resignation next week :)
Best of luck with everything!
Chose learning or growth over money or name anytime.
Take it, I’m in a similar boat with a toxic and manipulative boss, I’d move on in a second if I have a offer ready. The heartache is simply not worth it.
Start chatting to recruiters and get yourself out asap. It’s mentally draining
Think about hike you are getting in new company, I am not saying that you should stay in JP. I left a company in 10 months, add had an offer of 70% and 100% hike
I’d say leave, otherwise you’d find yourself has nothing to talk about in your future interviews when they ask details about your experience.
I was already having that problem in interviews haha.
Haha, I feel you. I was in similar boat in my past places. Go where you can feel good about what you do.
