Joined Twilio in Q1 2022 as a SWE. Survived through the two layoffs now and pretty concerned about the future of the company. My BU is in core communications of Twilio. I already have an offer in hand from a Profitable public company in Fintech (Non-US), should I move there just for the added stability for surviving the recession then chase TC later? TC : 250K #layoff #twilio #fintech #severance
No, you survived 2 and we won't have more layoffs unless we sell to PE. Stay put and do the minimal work. Don't get caught in the moment, and be smart severance is free money to destress and pick back again.
Your right, our org hasn't been hit in both of the layoffs. It's already pretty lean since teams are sharing engineers in our BU.
sell to PE, may I ask what's PE in this context?
Play the field…no one know the future of the company’s layoff plans except for a handful and no one but those select few can confirm there will be no more layoffs. If you can finesse working both…I say hey go for it 🙃
Well I would certainly do OE as you mentioned but since I'm not a citizen and on a VISA, it's not possible. Otherwise having two jobs is the best recourse to layoffs.
Stay
Your company will be fine. It's riskier to go into another field you may not have experience on and get laid off. This is not the time to take massive gambles like what you are suggesting. Despite what others say on here, your TC doesn't define who you are. You are doing fine. Stay put.
op did you end up leaving?

'Hindutva': The Radical Hindu Ideology That Seeks to 'Push Christianity Out of India’
Wait for severance. Delay your Fintech offer start date as much as you can, then wait for them to pip you at twilio. Don't update LinkedIn. This way if the Fintech company has layoffs you still have the twilio job.
I'm afraid I've already delayed the started date by 3-4 weeks. Fintech is already a profitable company. Also I'm on a Visa, so I don't intend to focus on TC but more on the Long term goal of immigrating.(Not Indian so no need for GC waiting)
Has the Fintech done layoffs yet? Google is profitable and still did layoffs fyi
