Hi everyone, I've been at Workday for around 2 years and interviewed with the hiring manager for a Workday consulting position with one of the Big 4 accounting firms. She said salary starts at 130k, which is 30-50k more than what I make right now. I really love the Workday culture and the team I'm working with, but now I'm considering the Big 4 position because of the salary raise and that it may boost my career in the long run. If you were in my shoes, would you leave? What is the lowest possible salary you would accept to leave? What other factors would you consider? TL;DR : TOE: 2 years Current Salary: 80-100k Proposed Salary: 130k+ Reservations: Work life balance, culture #tech #workday #consulting
The big 4 meaning Google apple Facebook and ?
I wish! But no, Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, EY
Those definitely aren't the big 4 lol
That’s a significant raise and a well known name on your resume. I had a good time at Deloitte, but I got very lucky with my team. The culture overall is VERY different from a tech company.
Yeah that's true and that is also my fear - I'm comfy in my job right now but I'm conflicted. One part of me says that now's the time to work really hard and not worry about the sacrifice in culture, and the other says I'll regret leaving Workday.
Make sure you’re ok with travel! Not sure about the specifics of the role, but my time at Deloitte had me traveling every week
Thank you! I don't mind travel but I'll for sure ask as I continue the interview process with them
If it's really 50% more money, I might leave. You'll definitely work more house to earn that TC though
Locking yourself into Workday consulting at other companies doesn't "boost" your career
I’m curious to know if you’d easily move if it was Microsoft offering you a position
Also lol "should I leave" after only talking to the HM. Autist
You’ll be consulting for big 4, not direct hire. They’ll treat you like shit. I’d try for direct hire at big 4
Could you please elaborate on what the difference is? She said I'd be considered for the Senior Consultant position.
Firstly, recruiters like to lie when it comes to consulting. They’ll inflate the salary then offer you less after you interview and possibly get an offer. Take that number with a grain of salt. From my experience as consultant, the direct hires just don’t see you as peer, human even. They ignore all your emails, pings, etc until they need something from you or you go to your manager who goes to the direct manager. It’s absolutely hard to get anything done.
