Got laid off from applied materials in august’23 as part of ‘performance initiative’ plan ( which affected 5% of the workforce). Should I mention to new employer that I was laid off when asked by HR in the prescreening phone call interview ? Would that affect my chance to get a new job ?
I mean if they ask you should tell the truth that you’re not still there, it’ll come up on background check anyway
Thank you for the response. Can I mention that I left voluntarily instead with correct dates(was officially part of applied materials till October’23).
Yeah that’s probably fine. Usually employees just confirm employment dates and title
Being laid off is the best reason to be unemployed. It means you aren't a job hopper and you weren't fired. Just go in armed with information about what makes a good offer and be prepared to walk if you're lowballed.
Where are you based?
No, you shouldn't, or you'll end up being offered minimum...
That’s what I am afraid of.
Not true. If you know your worth and the salary range for a given position, you will get a fair offer if you're prepared to walk. The best thing is to have competing offers but that's always the case laid off or not.
