Would moving to Bay Area a better idea than staying in Seattle if my goal is to get into Facebook, google, or Apple HQ in the future? (Received an offer from a company in Palo Alto, so relocation is covered)
Other than Apple the other two have offices in Seattle. Since these companies also often offer relo the only thing being in Bay Area gets you is maybe into social circles for people that work there.
Apple is in Seattle too.
Yes
If they want you, they will bring you down. Moving does nothing.
Apple has seattle office now. So you can be in seattle and work for any of them.
Yes, the Bay Area is the best place in the world. You will have so much fun here and you’ll instantly fall in love
I smell sarcasm
Actually I honestly love it. It has its problems, insane cost of living, poor (or no) proper city planning leading to traffic and bad infrastructure. But, I love the mild weather, the wide variety of things to do and the interesting people (I have exposure to a non-tech community, so I'm not always hearing about insular problems of techies). Definitely prefer it to Seattle, which I found harder to socialize in.
Moving might help if it means you end up making friends who work at those companies who can give you a referral, assuming you don't already have some.
If they want you, these companies will bring you from whereever you are, unless there are visa issues.
