Indian here. If things go well, I will be having my EU citizenship in a year’s time. Contemplating on what to do next after this. Should I move to US and be part of the rat race? Even if I do I’ll have an L1-B (I am not a manager) at best as H1-B is hard to get. And because of this things will suck. If there is another visa option or path I am not aware of please share.
Do it. You’ll get good money. I’ve heard that EU pay is terrible.
Come make money then leave after 10-15 years with 7 figures
EU is just a rat race with terrible pay
H1B visas holders can change jobs because many companies will transfer H1B visas even when they won’t get new ones.
Whenever it's freedom vs money, I think a lot depends if you're married, have kids? Come to the US only if you value money. If you have a family, you probably don't want to buy new challenges and enjoy your life in the EU. But if you're a bachelor, then why not? You can move to the US, earn better and start a family here. I moved to the US on L1 in 2019 when I was a bachelor. Fast forward to 2024, I'm married now and blessed with a baby. I'm sure I wouldn't have moved to the US if I already had a family back in 2019.
I mean I don't like the part where I cannot change employers. What's the solution to that problem?
Yes, you cannot switch while on L1. But once you have H1, you can switch. There are enough options out there for H1 transfer. In my case, I was lucky enough to get picked for H1 lottery on my very first attempt in 2020 itself but I am still working for Amazon in 2024. Lol 😂
Do you like money?
Don’t. 1. American life is not great. A lot of homelessness, capitalist society, antisocial way of living and baseless pride. Can’t even walk outside at night. Hollywoood just try promoting the best. 2. There’s so much to life apart from work in Europe. I moved and regret it. Planning on going back. 3. Do not compare salary. You’ll never earn as much as in US. But, money is not everything. 4. Healthcare is worst here. You’ll pay for insurance and still scared of getting sick. Because everything is out of pocket. 5. Food quality bad. The ingredients are so bad generally compared to Europe. Moreover, either go to gym or get obese.
+1
Don’t come here. We don’t want the extra competition. Stay there and try to fight for higher pay or something and just leave us out of it. You’d be doing us a favor as well if you fight for higher comps over there.
Now I am definitely coming. Buckle up.
Tech market is a slaughterfest in the U.S. right now. I'd say hold off and enjoy Europe. I'm in the U.S. right now and am jealous - I'd take Europe any day of the week over U.S. currently. The general population in the U.S. is becoming dumber by the minute and the cities are absolute garbage. The only reason to be here is for making more money. If that is your sole goal, then it should be your ambition to get to the U.S., outside of that if you can do alright in Europe in my opinion the quality of life is much better there in general.
No, it sucks. America is boring unless you love guns and football
And money
Being an American means sitting on the couch cradling an AR15 while saluting uncle Sam’s flag and getting blown by the hottest pu**y in the world. Welcome to true freedom and democracy.
