I am 27 y/o female. TC 240k as of this year. I work in Automotive F&I Not very happy with my job. I sometimes work 6 days 12 hours a day. My job is very demanding, and mentally draining. Net worth is 110k. (Just started saving about year and half ago) No debt. I don’t have any real expenses, asides from my car/insurance ($500), monthly groceries ($500), utilities ($200), and misc (health, memberships) $100 I feel being at a young age still, I’d like to take more risks and travel before I finally commit to a job and settle down in life…. I also want to brain storm ideas for a business but every-time I get a chance to, I feel so burnt out from work. I felt better in Sales, making less money, than as a Finance Manager. I also think living in NY has a lot to do with it. Just came back from Cali, and I enjoyed the weather and a bit of slower life pace. #burnout #mentalhealth
No job is worth your mental health. Earning 50k less is better than fucking up your mental health.
True but I’d rather be depressed in a Porsche than a civic
240 can’t afford Porsche so OP is stuck in civic either way
I took a paycut to escape a mentally horrible situation. Bounced back within two years. You are intelligent, do what you feel brings you peace, for tomorrow is not guaranteed.
Hey op, just read your post & saw you were thinking of maybe starting your own company. I have fintech company in ATX that you might be interested in exploring. Feel free to dm me.
She has a fiancée. Calm down
Jesus dude. Not everything has to be like that.
I would look into a sabbatical if your company offers it. If not possible, it sounds like you're in a fantastic position to quit for a few months (you can also phrase it to to your boss as a break in case you want to boomerange in the future)
You can afford taking a break, and you deserve it. Spend quality time for yourself and take care of mental health, travel ❤️ It’s worth
Quit if you can afford it. As you get older it’s hard to find time to travel. Now is the time to experience it. When you travel when you’re older the experience is different
Take a break, life is to be enjoyed not amass a bunch of money. It’s also a marathon so what you should do is try to find a job you are happy to do long term rather than optimizing for short term.
It’s possible that you’re a good and decent person with a conscience, and are discovering that being F&I at an auto dealer is incompatible with that. Quit now. Travel while you’re young. Find a gig that uses your talents without harming people.
Never quit until the new job is accepted with start date and signed
So no rent?
No rent, thankfully. I am fortunate for my fiancés family. They gave us their home
Wow !! How lucky you are !!
