I am tired of the team I am working at, the stupid projects that have zero value. I am tired of the politics, I am tired of waiting for days to merge a PR. I am tired of working as an engineer, politician and project manager. I know the job market sucks but I have been begging for interviews to quit my job. But I cannot find any jobs and I cannot wait for layoffs any longer. Should I quit? #tech #apple #meta
Believe me, it is much harder to search for a job when you don't have one.
People love saying this but I quit a job I hated a month ago and have had more interviews than I can schedule even with the economy being what it is. If things are actually so bad that OP feels the weight of them they should 100% quit.
Well, I say this from experience. I also had many interviews but the pressure I felt during each was much more so than in the past. Also, there's still the uncertainty, you may get 8 interviews and yet no offer, or get offers much lower than your expectation. Plus the job market may change at any time, if the economy worsens.
Don’t quit. Wait to be laid off if at all. You get severance only then. If you quit you get paid till your notice period that’s it.
Just wait. Layoffs coming
Wait for layoff. When you learn that this is coming your manager to put you in the list
TC or gtfo
1. Clear the interview loop, get an offer, refuse it citing family problems and ask how long they'll keep the "interview cleared" status so you can just get a renewed offer. 2. Wait up to that timeframe minus 2 months to see if you get laid off. Then get a renewed offer. 3... 4. Profit.
Are you still at Apple? I heard Apple is not doing layoffs.
Only when you don’t get a single call back for months, and bills & mortgage is up your ass, you will remember that getting paid was still a good option. Probably take a 3 week vacation to some rejuvenating place.
Go on medical leave for 60 days
Why waiting days to merge?
