Should I stay or should I go?

Hey, I am Staff SRE at Twitter atm. My team is infra team with huge tech depth. Our toil level is 50% and rest is automation or other swe work. I am getting on well with my manager and she is happy with me. She showed with latest RSU refreshers. The toil part of the job kills me, I feel like I waste my life and question every minute. Remaining project work is mostly in Python, not challenging and I usually can handle that without major effort. My WLB is quite good atm. Only problem is that 50% I spent with toil I couldn’t stop questioning. Current tc is around 500k, yoe 13 Recently went through interviews and had offers from Google and Spotify. Spotify offered Senior SWE role and total comp is around $260k per year. Spotify doesn’t guarantee refreshers, plus promo to staff seems to happen when you are 4-5 years into company. Google offer is L4 SRE-SWE and the total comp is around $300k per year. I know it’s hard to get promo at Google. They have good split of RSUs 33-33-22-12. Stock does well. We started this loop for L5 but got down levelled. Google has been dream for long time but with such a big hit back I am not sure. Miss doesn’t understand why the hell I would want to reduce the comp to just join a company at the end of the day. What would you do? One side says why the hell you work at the end of the day? Get your Money, do whatevs you like outside work with good WLB? Other side say you shouldn’t work on this crap and challenge yourself. #google #spotify #twitter
