Title says it all. I love my team and they have big plans for me, but I feel guilty being pulled into meetings for new initiatives knowing I have now accepted an offer. The offer is at an exciting startup and I know my current job wouldn’t be able to match salary or 100% WFH forever. I feel like I have a mutual respect between my teammates and higher ups and would have no problem training someone on the team to take over my responsibilities. Also working on extensive and neat documentation to hand over. Are there any downsides to giving a 3-4 week notice period? I’m still not back in the office. TC: 150k (without stock options) YOE: ~1.3
Some companies might lock you out of the network and escourt you off site immediately. If you are prepared for/ would not care about such an abrupt exit , then it doesnt hurt to give more notice. If you cross paths with any of these folks in the future your kindness may be rewarded.
To piggyback on this. Be prepared to be cut 1 month short of pay (or 2 weeks if you give 2 weeks). Not all companies will pay you out your notice…the beauty of “at-will” employment!
yikes, wasn’t aware of these possibilities. I think I’m going to prepare extensive documentation for the next 2 weeks then give the standard 2 weeks notice for Q&A sessions on the docs I create for the team. Thank you both for the info!
Start knowledge sharing now and give 2 weeks when it’s 2 weeks.
That is now the plan.
Bank of America? 2 days notice.
LOL stop 🥲
2 weeks is probably best since it’s a bank
Why would you want it to be awkward for twice as much time?
I gave 4 weeks to my manager. But still he shared it with team just 1 week before I left 💁♀️
Lol 4 weeks will be torture. Coast for 2 weeks and make your manager angry, then in the 3rd week 1:1 spin the tables by blaming your manager and telling them how it is their fault for not recognizing your talent. Finish off in style with 2 week notice followed by an email to manager, skip and HR cced. Finally on the last day sent a heartfelt email thanking the team and esp thanking the manager for being one of the best in your career.
I like this drama
would’ve expected no less than mind games and drama from our hardened soldier at Amazon. I salute u and hope you’re surviving out there LOOOL
