I just think it’s crazy how u can go out of undergrad into a hype eng role and make 200k fast. By the time you’re in your 30s you’re in the 400k 500k range if you play your cards right. doctors go through 10+ years of schooling and training only to make 300-400k TC 250K YOE 5

Why do Indians support Israel so much( on blind surprisingly) when Israel really thinks 💩of them ?
You’re comparing the average doctor pay to top SWE pay. Try comparing the top doctor pay to top SWE.
Ya average swe pay is like 100k. There are many doctors clearing 1mil a year easy
95th percentile: physician > SWE 80th percentile: SWE > physician Median: physician > SWE
Well... Software eng recent years have such high demand and can get such TC, can we say the same in the next decade or two? For doctors you know they'll be some of the highest salaries in society forever (well until robots replace them...)
Yo how much does Lam pay SWEs
🥜 is what I heard...
So, you’re asking a bunch of SWEs if they should earn less than Doctors?
In your 30s you are in 400k range, but in 40s you are at high risk of being unemployed due to burnout. I’m 39 and I don’t see myself in tech in late forties
We can't lose you tim coke. Keep your head up.
Docs burn out big time
No. Doctors have nowhere near the same leverage as folks who build software.
Scalability
That too.
I think the argument you’re making is pay should correlate with either difficulty and/or value (to society?) vs business dynamics (supply vs demand)? With this framework, would you not find it a challenge to effectively stack rank jobs/roles, to ensure some level of equality or consistently at least? Or mostly, leave it as-is, except certain roles must be more than others?
My view is no, doctors should make more. That being said, the reason why they do is impact. A doctor might treat 500 people a year, mostly for minor stuff. A SWE is building something that millions will use.
stupidest thing on internet today
How?
Doctors have a direct impact on the lives of people.. They deserve to be paid more.. We are sitting at our homes working and doctors are the ones who are risking their lives during this pandemic.. Of course they should get more..
So by that Logic soldiers should be paid the most since they are in the line of fire?
@data they should be too. But they're just the pawns of politicians. And why pay more when you can just make them believe it's an honor to die for your country. Lmao. Why do you think the military goes to high school for recruiting and not to ivy leagues?
You are comparing top 5% SWE to average doctors. Bad analogy
Agreed.
