Disney activist hedge fund Blackwells Capital will nominate three directors for Disney popcorn 🍿 #severance #layoff
If you ask the whole Blind community, of course they'll say yes. It's Blind. If you ask anyone in the company though the answer is obviously no. The company is so understaffed and damaged that the suggestion is stupid. Expect the pendulum to go the opposite way and we're going to hire way too many people to set up a more distant future layoff need

@oneCapitol I think you know AI is better than that
Something will change. Important to be adaptable to find a seat when the musical chairs stop. But good time to invest in Disney. Microsoft's turn was preceded by ValueAct coming in.
Disney needs three more Chief Diversity Officers
The Panderverse is real to me, too.
If peltz wins yes, and likely a big shift in strategy that short term will pump the stock but probably long term not be great. If he loses then I don’t expect much change structurally
theres some other activist investor involved as well now... blackwell capital?
Most of the other ones I’ve seen have been in support of current leadership though. So I don’t think they’d rock the boat too much. At least not until 2025
Already had 7000 layoff in 2023. Don't expect another one because some teams are overwhelmed already and other people left during the year as well. We'll probably be hiring because there is some open headcount here and there.
How is TC and WLB at Disney Streaming these days?
Tier below big tech imo. P4 (lead dev) gets 185k (location dependent), 45% LTI, 20% bonus. Team dependent but WLB is pretty good. I feel like everyone is understanding and I can do my own thing as long as the work is getting done. If your goal is to make the most money, you won’t find it here. But if you want a solid pay and WLB, I think Disney is great.
Yes. And they are gonna have to shore up their financials. Which means cost cutting or possibly cleaving off businesses (ie spin-offs).
The chances that Peltz will succeed in getting anyone on the board have been lower and lower each day, and they were just lowered a lot further now that we have ValueAct Capital on our side as well.
HR had to hire back multiple people, in my department, who were laid off due to all the OT being logged. Good luck.
OT? Are you hourly employee
Yes. We were salary but, like many (most? all?) U.S. based P1/P2 employees, our status was changed to hourly. Which is fine, we get paid more now. These decisions at the top are just mindless.
Like Carl Icahn?
