Side hustle on company coach?

For my fellow fucks who spend 2+ hours commuting on the bus daily, would you consider bringing a personal laptop and working your side hustle? Does the company still own your ass legally here? How about with WiFi off? Gracias.

Legally they own it and practically it's totally fine go for it. Get one of those screen angle protectors and use your personal hotspot, if you're extra paranoid.

Cool, pretty much assumed this but thanks for validating.

Agree. Screen protector. Personal laptop. Hotspot from your own personal phone just to be safe.

Just do work on the bus and leave early

It depends on whether you count your commute as part of your 8 working hours

Dude I work at Apple. This is how they feel.

Legally it doesn’t matter where/how you work on your side hustle. They still own it.

Might want to add "IANAL" to your blanket statement. Generally if you don't use any company resources (laptop, internet, time, or even relevant to employer's work, etc) it's likely kosher. The real question here which I don't think has legal precedent is the fact you're sitting on a company bus doing the work. But ultimately it's unlikely to matter anyway, because they won't know or care. It's only in cases where the work you're doing actually becomes substantial will they likely notice or care.
