Hi One of friend is moving to Sigma computing but he's worried about job stability and were there any layoffs. If anyone could plz share some insight about it . Additionally how's the company culture.
How is millennium for swe btw? TC?
I heard Limga is more stable
Yes there was a layoff. I was one of them. I would not trust sigma computing’s leadership. And the culture is kinda cultish tbh. The product is hardly unique and has had several performance and availability issues. Steer clear.
Sigma Computing leadership sucks, they believe they can conquer the BI world while the product is nowhere near the big players who've been around for ages
Software engineers were hardly impacted. Hopefully RTO 4 days a week was communicated. I think if associates can hold on for the next 6-8 months, there may be a parting in the clouds that’s worth sticking around for. It’s a gamble though.
Touching 700 customers and $50m in revenue. We are charging towards a series D. All of the above people are just sour that they could no longer be a part of it. Some changes have happened recently, and we are also 4 day RTO, but I have enjoyed my last one year at Sigma. People are welcoming, free food is bleh, projects are complex and interesting enough to keep me busy. Personally, I'm quite hopeful about the future seeing other bi products getting gobbled up by oligarch tech companies and willing to stick around for a bit. Good luck to your friend!
But were you confident enough to exercise your stock options?
Yea, I exercised some. I wish more of my options vested before hearing about series D.
Very volatile; I'd avoid it. It recently had an extension down round https://www.cbinsights.com/company/bitmoon-computing/financials The leadership is quite insecure.
Fwiw, sigma computing leadership is so insecure that they troll through glassdoor and blind for negative reviews and discredit employees experience there and exaggerate how well they are doing. Looking at comment by suave123
I agree with suave123. But yes it does suck is that working at a startup has a lot of growing pains I’ve seen in other startups especially when trying to grow toward IPO. It’s much easier to work at a large company when there isn’t a need to focus on growing the valuation for the VC. People will get lost along the way unfortunately. I’ve also worked at a startup that was very lenient (a lot of people slacked off) unfortunately that startup went down. There are things I don’t agree with at Sigma but I prefer Sigma that tries to ensure that the were trending toward IPO but it’s not for everyone.
What makes u think there will be IPO ? Have you looked around at finances of companies that went IPO in last couple of years ?
