Im looking to leave my Accenture Flex contract sometime in the next month. But after speaking with my manager, he made it seem like I cant quit betore the full 12 months are over. Ive been with Accenture for two years, the first year as contractor (as part of a third party contracting company) and this past year as a full time employee on a year long contract. My contract states its “at will” for both the employee and employer and Im in the state of CT which is an at will state. However, they did buy me out of my previous contract so they feel invested in me. Can they really keep me from leaving?
How do you imagine they'll make you work if you just stop showing up at work? You can give 2 weeks notice if you want to be nice
Fk all those contracting companies. How are they going to try to collect if you left. Leave at will because they'll fire you at will.
Yeah you’ve got a great point
Do companies still make you sign contracts? I thought employment was at will nowadays. Seems desi company
Yeah definitely, the original contracting company was based out of India. I had no idea since it was my first time dealing with one, but they’re the ones giving Accenture power over me.
Why are you leaving?
I’m seriously underpaid, I work in IT with three years experience and only make $60k, and this is after negotiating my salary (they offered $55k at first). They’ve also trapped me in CT (I’m from NYC). I’ve been asking to consult elsewhere since my first day but it took a year and a half before they finally told me they won’t actually let me go anywhere else. I’ve just had a horrible time since I’ve started and my mental health has taken a massive hit over the past two years.
That’s terrible. Do you have another offer?
