Since google sucks now, which is the top company to strive for?

Google used to be among the best but the last few months: -lowballs -downlevels -low TC -misleading offers (front-loading scam) -slow promos -no impact -very slow hiring -forced return to office And now Google is going to start putting people in Pip much more than before. Unlikely to remain a chill company as a result. So what's the cream of the crop company we should all be trying to get into now? Is it Airbnb? Heard they have the same pay bands throughout the US, fully remote, can visit other countries, chill and super high TC now? Plus they provide an essential service you can be proud of. TC: 230K

What's the frontloading scam?

Most of your stock is given year 1/2 making your TC look bigger than it is and year 4 RSUs are abysmal. Your TC will take a major hit year 3/4 without refreshers which is never guaranteed (if it aint in the contract, it's not guaranteed).

Amazon sm0ke May 9, 2022

That sucks. Even Amazon makes up for the backloaded vest by giving cash bonus for year 1 and 2.

Amazon bezoszuxk May 9, 2022

LOL at Airbnb. Everyone seems to forget about the mass layoffs Airbnb did just a couple of years ago

Normally I'd agree but that was due to a once in a lifetime global event. Can't blame them when the pandemic literally killed any business they could have had. I seriously doubt they will have layoffs like that ever again. Worth the risk imo. Their remote policy and TC is so damn good.

We also offered the most generous severance packages

Besides the HFTs like Jane street or HRT, Airbnb is definitely in a league above the rest with their new remote policy imo

I know Jane Street and HRT might even beat AirBnb TC but what about WLB? Are they known for reasonable WLB? And NYC is lit but remote option is huge for many and not sure Jane or HRT would allow that. I'm in NYC so cool with them but many might not want to commute to the offices.

HFT?

A year ago I'd agree. But now, there's the hiring freeze and plummeting stock. How will you stop Snapchat and Tiktok from ruining your business?

Meta grizzlyy May 9, 2022

Lol what? All stocks are down right now. You keep boasting about AirBnb but their stock is down as much as Meta, and Meta has essentially the same remote policy (except from other countries).

Damn, you might be right. How did I forget about y'all. How's the refresher situation though? Are you forced to leave after 4 years or take a major pay cut? And how fast can you get promoted? And is the work interesting?

Meta - but nobody can get in since it has a hiring freeze. Next is Airbnb with their remote work deal.

Square punjeet May 10, 2022

Metaverse is also not as good the old days. No more to-go boxes for example and their future is unclear with declining users in Q4 2021.

Airbnb may not even exist anymore next year after QQQ -80%.

This guy ๐Ÿ‘† got rejected by Airbnb. Posting same thing on all Airbnb related posts. Are you still hurting bad?

Confluent 75c868 May 10, 2022

In fact, I rejected Airbnb offer and picked Confluent 3 years ago. It turned out to be a bad choice.

Yeah even that AlgoExpert guy has recommended Amazon now but stay away it's still a PIP factory with forced and often baseless URA

Amazon YTjS23 May 13, 2022

I dont think Amazon pays that much compared to other top tier. On most recent compensation talk I got an extra 4 shares that vest in 3 years after my current stocks vest. Not good at all. And my org is insisting on RTO.
