Got a job offer at Singapore branch of fintech company, don't know much about the place besides expensive rent, can't chew gum, and hainan chicken. Anyone working in Singapore got any survive / thrive tips?
Check out https://www.hofstede-insights.com/models/national-culture/ Work cultures and social cultures differ (I married an IO psychologist). It’s not very specific advice like what you are saying in your post, but it gives you an idea of cultural differences.
And how does Singapore score on these?
You have to compare it with your culture (e.g. immigrants from another country shouldn’t enter US but their own) and Singapore to see the dimensions where they differ.
Sounds like you’re about to embark on a very buttoned-down leg of your journey. These help:

Singapore is a great place to be. Not sure where you're right now but even with expensive rents you get quality apartments. Amazing food, super clean, very convenient, no crime, great cultural mix, most people are friendly although you might have to put up with some discrimination esp when apartment hunting. You'll not need a car, public transport is exceptionally good and reliable. Great universities and schools, although schools can be harder to get into based on your location. Best part is cheap weekend gateways to some of the most sought after destinations in South East Asia. People from all over the world wish to see those kind of beaches or volcanoes or rainforests.
Be careful. Unlike US, laws do work there. Never drugs.
From NYC, but have lived in SG for a few years. It’s great. Really good food and travel. Family life is amazing here. Weather sucks. If you are relocating, try to visit first.
Sg has the lowest income tax rate as compared to US and apac country. If you adjust your lifestyle, not drinking too much, then you can still save. Liquor is exp here
I just got rejected for my employment pass. Apparently MOM is no longer accepting applications due to Covid. Good luck
Really? Wow that sucks Hope I don't get fired now ...
Let’s get the most important question out of the way first, are you Indian?
Chinese
What if op was Indian? What are the implications?
