Singapore: hot, humid, overcrowded, expensive. Amsterdam: a great place in the middle of Europe
Its in the West not middle
Seriously, in the middle of Europe? What map are you looking at?
Singapore is bad. Not sure about Amsterdam
please elaborate
It’s vice versa actually
Amsterdam is a fairytale. Amsterdam is freedom. Amsterdam is a gateway for travel in the external or internal worlds. How can you even put Amsterdam and Singapore in one sentence.
Amsterdam is fun, crowded, expensive, full of junkies, freezing cold in the winter, packed with gorgeous women, a short flight to anywhere in Europe. Singapore is the same but the opposite regarding weather, junkies, packed with h00kers and a short flight to SE Asia. I would pick Singapore
make sense google
Singapore - low tax
How is the tax there? u will have 30 ruling, meaning 30% excluded from taxation, the rest will be taxed around 35, which is approx 30 perc as a total?
On a 200k eur salary, in Amsterdam you get 140k eur, in SG you get 175k euro. And this is considering 30% ruling
Note that if you are brown Singaporeans will discriminate against you when renting apartments. So better stay away from a racist country.
Its fine. Who cares about some natives discriminating against you? Very few brown people anyway make close friends with natives. But other benefits really weigh in more - moderate climate, closer to Asia, low tax.
Singapore has significant presence of Indians and growing
Murica 😎
As an American who has been to both these cities…just no we don’t compare. Trying to leave and move abroad but it’s not easy.
@DocuSign Is that true? Are salaries comparable?
If crime is a factor, Singapore. If you can endure humidity better: Singapore cold better: Amsterdam Height complex: Singapore If not: Amsterdam Love travel: Amsterdam
amsterdam everyday of the week - singapore tech careers are super limited and the country does not value personal liberties like amsterdam would.
How do you manage to work at Amazon and split the time between the two places?
How did you buy a house there? What do you do with it the other 10 months of the year?

Weather is the deciding factor for me And for me, that's Singapore. But some people can't stand the heat and humidity of a tropical climate. I love it though.
Singapore is getting hotter and hotter. The high humidity doesn’t help. Don’t think I’ll consider Singapore to have good weather.
I think it's unique to many people in the US because we live in a relatively cool country. People in the tropics (40% of the world's population) would probably be the opposite of what you would expect. I have lived in Southern California most of my life, so when I moved to Singapore for a few years, it was like a month to adjust, and then I never had to worry about wearing a sweater or checking the temperature again. It was pretty awesome. Some expats struggled. Particulary fat people (also because Singapore requires a lot of walking) and those from like New England who think 85 degrees is scorching.
