Singapore is the place to be if you are not a USC and optimizing for money. Low income taxes and capital gains tax. After a few years of tech cap gains tax matters more than TC. Because high NW or 0 TC (layoffs). My friend moved to SG and he's rolling in dough. No brainier if you are on H1. TC: $550k YoE: 10 NW: $2.8M
they kill you if you do drugs
So don’t be a degen
Super regulated when it comes to every single law, if you’re an Indian you will get discriminated against, you’ll exhaust fun things to do in a year. Real estate is wildly expensive. No path to citizenship.
Does SG offer permanent residency?
Also mandatory military service for your kids if born in SG
Not true. Monaco is the place if optimizing for money
Elaborate pls
No taxes, great weather, great networking opportunities, f1 race in your doorstep
If you like living in an authoritarian state, go ahead
Nah. The US would never ally itself with authoritarian states just because it fits their agenda.
Singapore sounds all fun and games until China releases another virus and they weld everyone's doors and windows shut for 1 year.
at your YOE, don't even dream about drawing half of that TC here in Singapore though.
Pay in sg is too little. Little growth in career
You will get bored in about few months. Only summer all year round; Singaporean have way more race discrimination than many countries around the world because the whole country doesn’t care about it. The government divides people into different classes with different privileges based on your immigration status and income levels. Their immigration process is a black box and forget about it. If you are single, it’s probably OK. If you have kids, I’d say hard no.
Very few/virtuallly nonexistent positions in tech esp if you are considering senior leadership roles.
