Hi guys, I'm writing this post hoping it'll help someone! Full disclosure, I didn't move to the onsite interview so i maybe I'm just sour grapes, but I had a not so great experience. I didn't think that these questions would be asked for a software engineer position? I am in my senior year graduating Fall 2020. I had a 45 minute technical phone interview for the Siri Rotational Program. First we went over the homework problem for about 15 minutes, then for the next 20-30 minutes, the interviewer asked me the following questions: (there were more, these are only the ones i can remember) what is concurrency in java, what is multi threading in java, how to avoid race conditions in threads, what are pointers in java, what is the difference in python and java, what is supervised vs unsupervised learning, what is regression vs logistic regression, what is selection bias, what is variance, what is over-fitting vs under-fitting, what is bias variance trade off. And then a leetcode question (the stock market one) and a modification of that. I did really well on the coding questions, but bias variance tradeoff was something i hadn't heard of before and I blanked out on the regression part too, it got me so flustered. Maybe it was just bad luck or I lack of preparedness on my part, but I hope this helps someone who is about to interview for that program too. #siri #apple #interview
Bias-variance tradeoff is machine learning 101? As is knowing the details for regression? I don’t see how any of this is far outside the bounds of a typical undergrad education aside from the specificities of multi-threading in Java?
You are completely right! I just didn’t expect that for a software engineer interview, so I was a little thrown off.
But Rotational program title itself has AI/ML right ?
How long did it take for you to hear back after the phone screen?
Same question, been a while for me. How long since you interviewed?
1 week. You?

Why is our country owned by Israel? I don't want my tax dollars fund genocide. How can we stop this nonsense?
The rotations are usually masters or PhD students. Be flattered you got as far as you did as an undergrad!
Hi, can you explain what the rotational program is about ? Is it like doing 6 internships ? Also does knowing ML core basics suffice ?
Yeah I was super grateful when they reached out to me! :)
